End of the Season for 2023

We would like to say a very special to all the guests that have come to the cottage this year. We have had lots of lovey comments and really helpful feed back about the facilities.

We have tried to keep everything up together throughout the year and are grateful to the team at Lyme Bay who have carried out all the minor repairs.

We have updated the fire regulation equipment this Autumn with smoke and carbon monoxide alarms in every room and heat alarm in the kitchen. These are all linked so one will set them all off, so no chance to sleep through the alarm’s going off.

It had everything you could possibly need. Beautifully decorated and very welcoming. We had a wedding in Lyme Regis and reception in Uplyme so was the ideal location. If I was staying that way again I wouldn’t hesitate to book it again.

What happens if someone in my party tests positive for Covid-19?
If someone due to stay in the Blacksmith’s Cottage receives a positive test, you would be offered to defer your holiday to alternative dates (with any difference in holiday cost due), or you can request a refund (less £35 admin fee). Evidence of a positive test would need to be provided to Lyme Bay Holidays. These options would not be applicable if the positive test is within 2 days of the holiday start date.

What if there is another lockdown, or tier/travel/household restrictions prevent the holiday from taking place?
If Government restrictions prevent the booking from proceeding, you would be offered to defer your holiday to alternative dates (with any difference in holiday cost due), or you can request a refund (less £35 admin fee). Lyme Bay Holidays reserves the right to interpret the rules in place and their decision will be final.

What if someone in my party is asked to shield?
If someone due to travel is being advised to shield, whilst this could take place in the property itself, with the agreement Lyme Bay Holidays can defer your holiday. Evidence of shielding would need to be provided. The option to defer would not be applicable if this is within 2 days of the holiday start date.

What if we have not been vaccinated before travelling?
At the moment there is no guidance to suggest that guests will need to be vaccinated in order to take a holiday within the UK. Whilst Lyme Bay Holidays appreciate some guests may be considered ‘at risk’, any request to cancel for this reason would fall into their normal cancellation policy – https://www.lymebayholidays.co.uk/help/cancellations

What if I do not feel safe to travel?
Should you not wish to travel due to uncertainty, whilst Lyme Bay Holidays fully appreciate individual concerns this would fall into the normal cancelation policy – https://www.lymebayholidays.co.uk/help/cancellations

2021 News Update

Following government changes to Covid restrictions we are now able to take booking on following basis;

  • From 12th April to 17th May – One household can holiday together.
  • From 17th May to 21st June – 2 households can holiday together (no limit on number of guests) or 6 people from up to 6 households .
  • From 21st June – No restrictions on party size or mixing.

Obviously these rules and restrictions are subject to change and this can be applied at very short notice therefore Lyme Bay Holidays continue to monitor daily and make themselves available as much as possible to discuss any questions or concerns you have.

Help us to help you

Lyme Bay Holidays will be providing you with information both before and during your stay in a request to help us all provide a safe property for all. This will be very much in line with the general advice offered by the Government now, to keep hands clean and maintain cleanliness in the property as best possible with the products provided. Small changes such as placing used linen and towels into the bags supplied and ventilating the property during your stay.

Lyme Bay Holidays remain available to you should you have any worries or concerns, their office is open and the team will be happy to help however they can. The way we all provide the service to you may have to change for a while but the high level of service you can expect will not.

Coronavirus – COVID-19

Following the government announcement on 22nd February, Lyme Bay Holidays are unable to accept any bookings until 12th April. If you have a holiday booked via Lyme Bay Holidays and are due to arrive prior to this date they will be in touch very soon, please bear with them .

At that time you will be offered either –

  • Defer to an alternative date without additional fees, please note any change in rental price will apply.
  • Refund amount paid less a £35 administration fee (to cover our costs received to administrate your booking).

What are the current expected rules going forward for 2021? (Please note these are stated as ‘earliest possible’ dates)

What changes have been made to maximise safety?

We have carried out a number of changes in order to ensure that cottage can be as safe as possible.

What changes have been implemented?

Lyme Bay  have issued the housekeepers with revised cleaning procedures, this basically outlines some new measures they have introduced to the process to minimise risk plus also make the changeover more manageable. Some of these changes are:

Providing whoever is tasked to clean the property more time. To help achieve this they have had to move all arrivals to 5pm to allow for this additional time and ensure these new procedures can be undertaken for your safety.

Ensuring housekeepers are aware of the appropriate PPE and cleaning products while cleaning the property. They will also ensure the recommended cleaning materials are in the property for you to use when in residence.

Where possible we have had to remove items considered ‘high risk’ such as books, DVDs and some excess kitchenware. This applies to any item which cannot be cleaned or ‘wiped over’.

Best advice in this time is to “de-clutter” and help reduce risk and ensure any remaining items can be cleaned on each changeover.

Attention to detail – the advice is to minimise risk, this risk cannot be fully removed therefore by following these new procedures and importantly, allowing more time to do so, they are minimising the risk presented by Covid-19.

Key collections for all arrivals will be from keysafes for the immediate period. They will be sanitising keys and the safes on the changeover and if keys are collected from their office key safes sanitisers will also be available for your use.

The cottage is closed for use

As the owners of the cottage we have been very aware of our social responsibility, that local communities are respected and visitors become part of the community whilst visiting the Lyme Bay Area.

To this end the cottage has remained closed inline with Government advice and we have followed all Government guidance. Like our agents we have been concerned that we do not put at risk the local community in Uplyme by not allowing any travel to the cottage or anyone to stay, family, friends or guests.

We will only reopen the cottage when we are advised that it is safe to do so.
